Hocus Pocus in Focus by Aaron Wallace5/13/2023 Hocus Pocus is an evergreen title that can almost always be found on store shelves during the fall season. You need to only purchase three things, the rest can be found for free online! Anything older than a few years (that isn’t a box-office-record-breaking animated hit) gets shelved and given a second-class treatment.Īnd so, seeing as Disney won’t bother to do so, I’ve decided to share a very easy, step-by-step guide on creating your very own “Special Edition” Blu-Ray for the 1993 classic Hocus Pocus. They are the consumer base that Disney would want to aim this nostalgia-driven type of Special Edition to, but Disney instead would rather focus on the now, as they always have. Movies like Honey, I Shrunk the Kids and Hocus Pocus have a built-in audience of adult consumers who are able to vote with their wallets now when compared to twenty years ago. While Disney doesn’t mind giving some level of star treatment to A-list pictures like Mary Poppins, they’ve summarily ignored cult classics that fans would willingly purchase a spruced-up, extras-filled edition. I’ve long championed for Disney (well, every studio, but Disney in particular) to licence their films to Criterion in order for them to create or collect supplements for movies that Disney themselves won’t bother touching with the Special Edition label.
